Genealogy of the Sceptre & Birthright Promises

The Birthright Promises and blessings started with Noah and his blessing of his sons. The birthright, the priesthood and the rulership was to be vested in the youngest son of Noah namely Shem. These promises ultimately came to be vested in the covenant made with his descendant Abraham.

Noah's blessings are clearly seen in "Blessed by the Lord my God be Shem and let Canaan be his slave. God enlarge Japeth and let him dwell in the tents of Shem and let Canaan be his slave." (Gen. 9:26-27).

It was from this time that the birthright promises were first extended to the family of Shem but also extended to the sons of Japeth who would dwell in the tents of Shem and be greatly increased by Shem's blessings. Thus there has to be a significant movement of Japethetic tribes into the nations descending from Shem and forming part of those nations over the course of history from the dispersal after Babel and up till the present time.

We will see how this was to operate even before Israel had left Egypt to take up its own inheritance in Canaan.
