Depart and follow Me and I will:

  1. make of you a great nation
  2. bless you
  3. make your name great
  4. you shall be a blessing
  5. bless them that bless you
  6. curse them that curse you
  7. bless all families of the Earth through you
Now the LORD had said to Abram, Depart from your country, and from your kindred, and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you:

And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing:

And I will bless them that bless you, and curse him that curses you: and in you shall all families of the earth be blessed.
- Gen. 12:1-3

Original conditional covenant.

If Abram would obey God, then God would provide 7 physical blessings, with the last one also being a major spiritual one that refers to Jesus Christ.

Eventually all people and all of the spirit creation will be blessed because of Christ's acceptable sacrifice.

To his descendants would he give the land of Canaan. And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto your seed will I give this land: and there he built an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.
- Gen. 12:7
A promise that some of Abraham's seed or offspring would be given the land surrounding the area of Shechem.
All the land of Canaan as far as the eye can see, God would give to Abram for ever. And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now your eyes, and look from the place where you are northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:

For all the land which you see, to you will I give it, and to your seed for ever.
- Gen: 13:14-15

The land of Palestine would be given to Abram for a possession for ever.
God would make Abram's seed as the dust of the earth in number. And I will make you seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall your seed also be numbered.
- Gen. 13:16
Abraham's descendants would be so many that they would be impossible to count.
Abram's descendants would be as the stars in the sky. And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if you are able to number them: and he said to him, So shall your seed be.
- Gen. 15:5
In the clear night sky of thousands of years ago, it would have been physically impossible to number the stars seen across the Milky Way.
The seed of Abram would have the land from Egypt to the Euphrates. In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto your seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
- Gen. 15:18
This was an Unconditional Covenant that God made at this time in promising Abram that his seed would inherit this area. This is yet future, since under Solomon, Abraham's descendants never totally possessed this area and soon after lost what they had.
Walk before me uprightly and I will make a covenant to bless your seed exceedingly. And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be you perfect.

And I will make my covenant between me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.
- Gen. 17:1-2

God establishes a further conditional covenant when Abram was 99 years old.

Abram was to obey, and God would bless.

You shall be a father of many nations--nations and kings shall come from you. As for me, behold, my covenant is with you, and you shalt be a father of many nations.

Neither shall you name any more be called Abram, but you name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made you.

And I will make you exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come out of you.
- Gen. 17:4-6

God expands the details of the original covenant of 24 years ago.

Abraham's seed would be in many nations with a line of kings. Here is the dual promise of birthright and sceptre again.

God would establish His conditional covenant that he had with Abraham, with his descendants. And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your seed after you in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto you, and to you seed after you.
- Gen. 17:7
This is key. The conditional covenant that God established with Abraham would be also for his descendants down through history forever. He would be their God and in return they would get the physical blessings.
God would give the land of Canaan to Abraham's descendants as an everlasting possession. And I will give unto you, and to your seed after you, the land where you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.

And God said unto Abraham, You shall keep my covenant therefore, you, and your seed after you in their generations.
- Gen. 17:8-9

This land of Canaan has not been fully obtained as an everlasting possession, since Abraham's descendants broke the terms of the covenant.
God establishes circumcision as a sign of the covenant. This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after you; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.

And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant between me and you.

And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of your seed.

He that is born in your house, and he that is bought with your money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant.
- Gen. 17:10-15

This is a conditional covenant that was to be for Abraham's descendants. After the time of Christ, this was modified.

Now to become a heir of Abraham, circumcision is not simply a physical act, but is done internally of the heart. It was changed from the physical to spiritual.

God would bless Abraham's wife and promises that she would be a mother of nations, and kings would come from her. And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai your wife, you shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.

And I will bless her, and give you a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.
- Gen. 17:15-16

The covenant promises would come through Abraham's wife (who had not yet produced a child at age 90).

Her name was to be changed to Sarah (noblewoman) to reflect this honour. Ones name is changed when ones relationship with God is altered

God promised a son through Sarah and He would establish His everlasting covenant with Isaac and his seed. And God said, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son indeed; and you shall call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.

But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto you at this set time in the next year.
- Gen. 17:19, 21

God promised a son, to be called Isaac, exactly one year later, and through him would the promises go.
God promises that he would bless Abraham's seed as the stars of heaven and as the sand on the sea shore. That in blessing I will bless you, and in multiplying I will multiply your seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore;
- Gen. 22:17
Again Abraham's descendants would be an innumerable number.
A specific promise is given of national power. ...and your seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
- Gen. 22:17
Fulfilled in the British Empire and the United States which possessed every major land and sea gate of the world.
All nations of the Earth would be blessed through Abraham's seed. And in your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because you have obeyed my voice.
- Gen. 22:18
Because of Abraham's obedience, all nations of the Earth would be ultimately blessed. This is dual in nature and contains both physical and spiritual promises.

Three part promise:

  1. seed would be innumerable
  2. his seed would possess this land
  3. in his seed will all the nations of the earth be blessed.
Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you; for unto you, and unto you seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I swear unto Abraham your father;

And I will make your seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto your seed all these countries; and in your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
- Gen. 26:3-5

God establishes the covenant with Isaac because his father Abraham obey and followed God.

Again their is a dual component of physical blessings and spiritual.

Through him would come the lineage that produced Jesus Christ. This included gentile bloodlines.

I will bless you and multiply your seed for Abraham's sake. And the LORD appeared to him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham your father: fear not, for I am with you, and will bless you, and multiply your seed for my servant Abraham's sake.
- Gen. 26:24
A promise that Isaac's seed would be blessed because of Abraham.

The blessing of descendants obtaining the choice locations of the Earth and greatness among the nations. Therefore God give you of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:

Let people serve you, and nations bow down to you: be lord over your brethren, and let your mother's sons bow down to you: cursed be every one that curses you, and blessed be he that blesses you.
- Gen. 27:28-29

This is the birthright inheritance bestowed on Jacob by his father Isaac.
Dual promise of physical blessing through national greatness and the Messiah. And your seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in you and in your seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

And, behold, I am with you, and will keep you in all places where ever you go, and will bring you again into this land; for I will not leave you, until I have done that which I have spoken to you of.
- Gen. 28:14-15

This is the unconditional dual promise made to Abraham and now given to Jacob by God Himself!

A promise of physical greatness and a promise, yet to be fulfilled, in blessing all the world through Millennial Reign of Jesus Christ.
